6 Weeks After the Wedding

No matter how I try
the apartment
stays cluttered
the boxes
stay packed
the thank-you notes
don't get written

And my mother won't
pick up the phone
because she's disgusted by
my failures as a housewife

I appreciate poems that say what is going on for the poet. It is something for everyone. We can all identify. Good work.

I enjoyed reading this...I like the idea of poems AFTER the holidays and events.

I hope this isn't too autobiographical (don't be too hard on yourself, speaker!).

there are more important things in life than being a 'good housewife' - i hope the mother in this poem realises that soon and starts talking to her daughter again. (I too hope its not too autobiographical!)
