State of erotica

I've spent the afternoon working with a friend, completing this week's assignment for my erotica class. I can't believe we're at the end of week 4 already! Only two weeks left! I'm having a great time, and will be sorry to see this end. It's been perfect motivation to get writing and to interact with other writers. I enjoy creating new pieces, rethinking old ones, and seeing what my classmates are doing.

I have not been good about submitting things lately (erotica or otherwise), but I've been really busy just producing new work for class, plus keeping up with the rest of my life. I'll make a point of taking care of submissions for the last two weeks in March, so that way I can have a bunch of stuff out when I'm busy doing NaPoWriMo in April.

I was thrilled to discover today that Laura Roberts is out of retirement, and thus Black Heart Magazine is no longer defunct. Black Heart was the first erotic/sex publication to print one of my stories, so it's nice to see it back in action.

And I have an idea for a themed erotica collection. I have one of the stories drafted, have a rough structural outline and notes . . . now I just need to write it! I'm looking forward to this new project.

Publication News

I'm thrilled to announce that I have a story published at Sliptongue Magazine. I think they're a great publication and I'm honored to have work there.

I know, my blog has been very brief lately. My creative writing class takes up a lot of time! But it's almost March, meaning it's only a month until April, and then I'll be doing NaPoWriMo and blogging regularly. So stay tuned!

Confession Tuesday

I confess that I've been more social than usual lately, and while it takes away from my writing time to some degree, I'm really happy with the way things are right now. Maybe in a few weeks or months, I will feel like being a recluse again, but right now, I'm enjoying the fact that I want to go out and spend time with friends. I seriously haven't been this outgoing in my entire life, and it's a nice change of pace. I went back to therapy a few weeks ago, and I think I'm really starting to overcome some of my social anxiety issues, which probably explains things.

I confess that I think PajamaJeans are awesome. The Onion says that people who wear them are "too lazy to get dressed," and I am totally okay with that description applying to me. It's 1 in the afternoon and I am still in my pajamas. I won't put on real clothes for another hour.

I confess I somehow managed to lose a library book that I never took out of my room. I am very annoyed about this.

Great news!

Earlier this week, I found out that one of my stories has been accepted for the Mainstream Erotica fiction competition! I'm stoked. This is probably the biggest honor I've received in my erotica career so far.

You can read my story for free on the website, along with all of the other stories that have been accepted into the competition. Readers can vote for their favorite entries, so if you want to do that, you'll need to create a free account with the site.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
